The Boardwalk

On yet another hot and sunny day in the Sunshine State of Florida, Paul and I decided to head to the quieter part of Disney World.

THE BOARDWALK

We got a little boat from Hollywood Studios across to the Swan Hotel which is situated right by The Boardwalk. It was the first time on the trip I hadn’t seen over 50 people within 5 feet of me. Packed with restaurants which were sure to be crammed and bustling at night, people lazily sat and drank their beers in the sunshine, enjoying the lovely weather. This was most likely due to the fact that the hotels surrounding it was of the deluxe range with a yacht club nearby so it wasn’t really for tourists. Instead, it was the residence to newly married, to-be-married and married for 50-year couples with very few children around.

As per usual, we were feeling rather peckish.Paul had researched that there was a 1950s style ice-cream bar here called Beaches and Cream which I just had to go to. Most of you know that I am a huge sucker for all things 1950s so this was the perfect lunch location.

From the decor to the menus everything was perfect here. It was bright, colourful and the food was superb. Burgers in the US never fail to put a smile on my face and even their vanilla milkshake was amazing.

Florida is HOT, even in October. Therefore a light weight flowy dress is great for wandering around!

I felt quite at home here. If I came here again, perhaps I would stay in the larger and fancier hotels. Maybe, when I’m a bit older! In the meantime, I have rather happy with my little Caribbean style home for this visit.
