If you’ve been on my Instagram, you may have seen that I recently got a summer house for my garden. My intended use for the summer house is a total chill out area. And although I have my office for my inspiration, sometimes a change of scenery can help get the juices flowing for both work and blogging.
Once it has been insulated there will be cladding added on top. Once the wiring and electricity is in, what next?
I’ve been looking at some summer house inspiration.
IN THE SUMMERTIME
Summer houses definitely have a cutesy feeling to them! Pastel and neutral colours are up there for colour schemes as well as floral patterns. I’m leaning between a white or light blue interior. The outside will remain it’s natural colour as this will weather better than a painted lighter tone.
I am definitely all for the Cath Kidston patterned cushions. They bring such brightness to a room as well as that feminine touch. And a few blankets and throws for a cosier feel when the evenings get a bit cooler will create the perfect atmosphere.
I also love the idea of fairy lights, inside and out. They create such a magical atmosphere! My favourite type are the rounded bulbs for the outside. And perhaps some warm white lights for inside?
I have a chair and table set coming for the decking area outside and I’ve been window shopping for an L-shape sofa set for pure comfortability. Inside, I want to get myself a Dansette record player like this one from Urban Outfitters.
However, this is a little costly, so perhaps just a small portable one would do?
And for a bit more colour, I would love to some plant life in there too. I found that as soon as I introduced plants into my home it immediately made it feel like home.
What else do I need in my summerhouse?
