How to Start 2017 and Create Goals

Everyone has high hopes for the New Year. Whether it’s losing weight, giving up smoking or becoming less stressed, everyone has goals for their fresh start. So, how can you get 2017 off to a great start?

NYE

The start of the New Year is meant to be a celebration! For me, NYE should be spent in the warm and comfort of home… I mean, January isn’t exactly the warmest time of year to stand in London and watch fireworks. But what can I say, I don’t like crowds! Especially potentially drunken ones.

Make it perfect by surrounding yourself with loved ones, food and champagne. Try to avoid depressing conversations as this may dampen the mood, keep it light hearted, have games and think positively about the year ahead.

GOALS AND RESOLUTIONS

It’s customary to start the New Year afresh. You set yourself ideas of how you can improve your mindset and lifestyle.

The best way to do this is to reflect on the type of person you want to be. Do you want to be healthier? Less stressed? Save money? These are simple ideas but can be hard to reach.

PRESSURE, PUSHING DOWN ON ME

Don’t put too much pressure on yourself with your resolutions. Set yourself weekly goals as opposed to having ten all in one go (a mistake I often make, believe me!) They will all soon become part of your daily routine.

If you want to go to the gym, eat clean, sleep eight hours a night… Well, think about what is most achievable first and foremost. Start by improving your sleeping pattern, go to the gym twice a week and start eating better but don’t be afraid to treat yourself. It’s a mindset as well as a lifestyle. And don’t feel bad if you break it every now and again. Stuffed crust exists for our pleasure people!

BE REALISTIC

Don’t start 2017 with the crazy concept that you will lose three┬ástone by the end of January. Because in all likelihood, you won’t. Yes, I am disappointed too. Goals will be hard to achieve but if you’re realistic in when you can reach your goal, you are more likely to smash it!

BELIEVE IN YOURSELF

If you set goals and resolutions, choose ones you believe in. When you believe you can achieve something, you will reach those goals with more ease. It’s more than okay to challenge yourself but if you have something you’re not 100% sure on, you will give up and feel disheartened. If you have a day when you feel as if you want to give up, take a little break.
