A huge part of my blog makeover was to refocus my posts. Refocussing really means sticking to certain topics and not trying to cover everything that there is in the world.
I mentioned that this is something I wanted to do when I shared my goals on my old blog. I have finally put it into action! It’s very easy to get carried away, so that is why I am going to share with you how you can get back on track and focus on a target audience.
What is it you want to achieve with your site? What is the main theme? Think about what it is you are aiming for and who your target audience is. You can do this by looking at your categories and deciding what you want to keep and focus on.
PLAN & CATEGORISE
Keep a list of ideas and make sure they fit into one of your main categories. If it doesn’t work and you still want to post it, you can be creative and find ways for it to fit.
For example: if you’re a fashion blogger but you want to share a travel article, why not feature your outfits from your travels? This way it will still fit under your fashion category.
OUT WITH THE OLD
Go through your posts, remove irrelevant articles and update old links, images and text. If it doesn’t fit with any of your categories, delete it :). This way there is a place for everything and will be easier for your readers to find.
LINK & CONNECT
Writing an article that connects to an older one? Deep link it! Connecting posts show that you are on track with focusing on a particular set of topics.
Of course, you can publish anything you wish to on your site but if you wish to look at concentrating on a few topics, these are the tips I recommend first and foremost.
