Why I Stopped Accepting Pre-Written Content

Why I Stopped Accepting Pre-Written Sponsored Content

I did originally start writing a post called, “Why I Accept Pre-Written Sponsored Content,” which is something I have been doing for the last couple of months. However, I then realised it didn’t make me feel a hundred percent comfortable. I was accepting articles that were primarily to promote something that didn’t have much to do with me.

The content was useful to my readers but I felt I was drawing further and further away from, “The point”. When I finished the post I deleted it, emailed everyone who was contacting me regarding sponsored content and explained this was something I no longer accepted on my blog.

WHY PRE-WRITTEN CONTENT ISN’T FOR ME

I have zero issue with bloggers who want to accept pre-written content and be paid. But it’s no longer something that is for Living for the Now. I want to write all of my content, sponsored or not. I believe bloggers should be paid to advertise products and services. But I should be writing all of it from my heart (unless it is a guest post from another blogger). There are a few instances now and again where I do receive content written on my behalf but I’ll be honest when I say I completely re-write it.

Before I was editing all of the posts I received. I soon realised that perhaps I could’ve just written it myself… So now, I do. I mean at the end of the day I was being used as an SEO tool and I’m not a fan of that.

Yes, I would state each post that was a sponsored guest post but it’s something I will no longer accept. I must say I’m quite proud of myself. I have finally woken up and realised it wasn’t fair. Not to myself or my readers to take writing from someone else who is being paid a lot more than me. Especially for something not one hundred percent on my wavelength.

Any sponsored posts (if I like the topic!) in the future will be written by myself. I will be stating that they are a collaboration with a brand.  So, be prepared for lots more content coming your way. One hundred percent honest, one hundred percent written by Living for the Now.

I totally get this! I think I’ve only accepted pre-written content a couple of times, but I much prefer writing it on my own!
