Lush: Don't Rain on My Parade Daddy-O

LUSH: Don’t Rain on My Parade, Daddy-O

I’m a sucker for LUSH, but who isn’t nowadays? However, I used to hate the shop. The smell as I walked past it in Victoria Station used to give me a headache, so I never found myself going in there. Yet, as I get older and realise the amazing work they do for animal cruelty and vegan products, I’ve found myself unable to live without them.

Since September last year, I’ve been using LUSH shampoos, conditioners, body scrubs and more. However, I fancied a change from Rehab, American Cream, and Happy Hippy. Which is why we picked up some Daddy-O Shampoo and Don’t Rain on My Parade shower gel.

Daddy-O is a beautiful purple elixir, smelling deliciously like Palma Violets. You cannot see its stunning purple shade until it’s on your hands ready to be scrubbed into your hair. Mainly aimed at blondes, this shampoo stops golden tones going brassy keeping it soft and shiny.

Even without conditioner, my hair feels so smooth and works just as wonderfully as my old Rehab shampoo but I prefer the smell of Daddy-O much more. It has made my hair look brighter and softer whilst giving it some volume. Although labelled for those with lighter shades, it’s not just for blondes. Paul has been using it too and he has dark hair, so don’t be put off brunettes!

The scent is so scrummy and lasts, especially if you avoid straightening your hair when it’s dry. In addition to its beautiful appearance, the effect on my hair and its delicious scent. It contains (mostly) natural ingredients including an old favourite: Coconut oil. This is what makes my hair so soft but doesn’t require three hours of leaving it in and two hours of rinsing out (I’m exaggerating, kinda). The Bergamot Oil – a blondies delight – creates the shine.

I have a bit of a tough time with LUSH’s shower gels. None of them really ‘do it’ for me. Although they make my skin soft, I’m just not a big fan of the smells. Ordered online just as a change from Happy Hippy, I wasn’t sure what this would be like. For me, the smell is too manly. It’s not terrible but I’ve left it for Paul to use whilst I go on the hunt for something else!

Have you tried either of these products? If so, what did you think? Do you have any other LUSH recommendations for me?
