Five Ways To Give Your Hair More Volume

Sometimes our hair can lose volume. Not cool, right? Well, there are a few simple and cost-effective ways that you can give your hair a little va-va-voom without heading to the hairdressers!

Probably one of the oldest tricks in the book! Blow drying your hair upside down helps create natural volume. One of my favourite ways to create volume with a hairdryer is by separating my hair into sections whilst I dry it.

Lift a layer of hair up and tie the bottom layer. Tilt your head upside down and blow-dry the loose layer. Repeat until you’ve reached the bottom section of hair. Brush your hair upside down and there we have it! Volumptious hair!

There are plenty of products out there that don’t cost an arm and a leg that will provide natural looking volume.

For example, John Frieda’s Luxurious Volume range have volumising products that you can use from the shower to styling including shampoo and conditioner to hairspray and mousse. Super soft, full and thick looking hair – hell yeah.

I’m not a fan of backcombing your whole head of hair as it can seriously damage it. So, instead of backcombing the whole thing, just do the roots. Use a teasing comb to boost your roots and spray with some hair spray (such as the John Frieda, volumising spray). Do it in small parts as opposed to large sections to ensure full root boosting!

If you don’t like using too much heat on your hair, only blow-dry it until it’s slightly damp and let nature take its course.  Blot your hair with a towel and quickly blast the hair dryer on your hair whilst tipping your head upside down.

When it’s partly dry brush it upside and let your hair dry naturally.

Wash your hair in the evening and dry until your hair is slightly damp then tie it up in a bun. Or, if you prefer, put your hair in braids to create natural waves. Let your damp hair dry naturally throughout the evening, or even better, sleep with it in.

There you have it! My top five tips for giving your hair natural and cost-effective volume! Thank you to John Frieda for sending me the volumising goodies to try!
