How to Give Your Body Confidence a Boost

I’ve written before on how to better yourself, but there has been so much bad press recently on body confidence that I just had to give my two cents on it. We’ve all seen the recent controversy over the use of plus size models and how “plus size” they actually are, and the retouching of magazine cover shoots that act as a continuation of unrealistic body goals for young girls.

That’s why today I’m going to talk about how to give your body confidence a nudge. There are many ways to make yourself feel better about the way you look, and I hope these give you something to think about.

DRESS HOWEVER YOU WANT

People need to forget fashion trends and go with what feels good. The only way you’ll ever feel confident is to wear what you feel comfortable in, so don’t be afraid to develop your own style.

There are tonnes of women that say wearing heels makes them feel sexier, more powerful and far more confident, but if there’s nothing you love more than to grab a pair of statement trainers then go for it. You’re completely unique, your own person – don’t ever forget that, embrace it!

EAT CLEAN, FEEL STRONGER

It really is true that you are what you eat. As much as I love those deep-fried treats and chocolate-coated treasures, we all know that they aren’t any good for us. I’ve found that when I eat well, I feel well too. I have more energy, I feel more positive, my mind is stronger and it instantly gives me a body boost.

TAKE HELP WHERE IT’S NEEDED

It could be that you feel uncomfortable with a particular feature of your body. There’s no shame in seeking advice from a medical professional if this is the case, and it could help you feel more comfortable in your own skin.

Many women have low self-esteem over body issues that cause them not just emotional but physical pain, and this should always be addressed to improve your quality of life. For example, young women who have breast reductions undertake the procedure because of hurtful experiences, but also due to the development of serious back and neck problems.

LEARN TO LOVE YOURSELF

I know this can seem like the hardest thing to do when you’re feeling down, but it’s so important! You’re the one who has to live with yourself, and if you accept who you are and do the things you love doing, it will help you to blossom as a person and massively increase your self-worth.

Surround yourself with the people that support you rather than hold you back, and always do what you think is right rather than what makes other people happy.

    Yes! Eating clean creates so much more energy to do what you love in life. Once I had my diet sorted out my health sky rocketed as I was fuelling my body with nutritional foods rather than energy draining junk. All my health issues eventually just went away afterwards. Great article x

    The first two things you’ve mentioned are definitely what helps me to feel more confident 🙂 Wearing something you feel comfortable in really does have such a huge impact on your confidence in my opinion. Also I couldn’t agree more when you say that eating well makes you feel well, that’s definitely the case for me too! To me a healthy diet isn’t about what I look like on the outside but more about what I feel like on the inside cause that’s what boosts my confidence. Thanks for sharing this x

    Great post and some great points!
    The eating better one is completely true.. I always more more energised to do things if I’ve eaten properly. However, admit that I have had more than one cheat day a week recently… :/
    I definitely agree that you need to love yourself. Confidence fuels confidence and woman should empower each other. 🙂
