Waking up in the dark; cold drizzly rain and cold feet. How depressing.
NO. Postive thoughts guys. Positive thoughts! Seriously, the winter months can feel pretty darn grey and miserable. I know, I know, it’s not like autumn where you have bright coloured leaves and orange sunsets. So how can we make it cheerier and get rid of those winter blues?

JUST THINK, IT’S CHRISTMAS TIME
It may be a little damp and bleugh out there BUT you can make it warm, cosy and Christmassy indoors. Get yourself some scented candles (may I suggest Yankee Candle?) Get yourself some fairy lights, blankets and hot chocolate. Stick on a festive movie and smile!
GET YOURSELF A LUMIE!
I don’t have one myself but the Lumie is an incredibly awesome idea. Their Bodyclocks are dawn simulators… basically, alarm clocks that wake you up gradually with increasing light. Pretty sweet, huh? This way you won’t wake up in complete darkness and feel miserable about it.
I suck at this one in the winter months. Doing twenty minutes of exercise (or just go for a walk) helps your bodies happy hormones increase and allows you to de-stress. Perhaps make your morning workout a little later in the day so you don’t have to dread getting out of your warm bed to go to the gym?
Again… I suck at eating well this time of year (I will be better I promise!). But eating right isn’t necessarily just about salads and no chocolate. You may remember a post I did about mood-boosting foods? Get some of those in your diet and you will naturally feel happier and a little less “meh.”
Yes, winter sucks a little bit. But think positively, look after yourself and the rest will follow. And if none of that works, book yourself a holiday for Florida next year (another Christmas present idea, maybe?).
