Coming Back from a Blogging Slump

Coming Back from a Blogging Slump

I won’t lie, lately I have had a little bit of blogging fever. My motivation has been on the low side and I’ve had a slight lack of inspiration to write. Which is okay! It’s natural. But if you blog for a living or are looking to you cannot afford to spend weeks on end not writing any posts. I’m making a conscious effort to do the following:

  1. Think about why – If you work out why it is that you’re in a blogging slump then you’ll be able to find a way to fix it.
  2. Get reading other blog posts – Reading posts by other bloggers may get your juices flowing to write about a similar topic. Read my post on inspiration vs copying.
  3. Change your environment – Maybe it’s what is around you that is making you unmotivated. Why not get some desk space inspiration? The more pleasant your work area, the more likely you’ll be happy to do some work.
  4. Rebrand – Give your blog a refresh – design, colour, logo whatever! Being creative in other ways may produce new ideas and encourage motivation.
  5. Revisit an existing post – Pick an existing, popular blog post from a few months ago and update it with new information and ideas. It’s easier than starting a new post and it’s a good way to link people back to old, successful content.
  6. Get spending – Go shopping and get yourself some products that you love and that you can chat about with your readers on the blog!
  7. Content refocus – Focussing your posts on a specific topic will give you incentive to write about particular aspects of your chosen topic.
  8. Take part in blogger chats – The topic of conversation may spark something in you! Here are the benefits of taking part.
  9. Get out of the house Plan an awesome day that will encourage you to write about it.
  10. Schedule posts – Write your blog posts and spread them out throughout the week. This will give you a change to recharge your motivation battery!

I love blogger chats for inspiration! I also find reading through comments on my older posts really helpful for coming up with ideas for new posts, if people have asked for comparisons or anything like that 🙂

Great post, thanks for sharing your tips. It can be so frustrating when you have bloggers block or zero motivation to post. Sometimes you need to step away from your computer screen to find inspiration.
