The Cold Shoulder top is definitely a trend that has sparked a fashion revolution. First, it was a simple Bardot top influenced by the gorgeous Brigitte Bardot. Personally, I find Bardot tops difficult to wear. They never sit where they should and that is so unfortunate as I love the style. Which is why the Bardot alternative with the straps is favourable! But then along came the Cold Shoulder top, which really stole my heart.
GIVING ME THE COLD SHOULDER
The Cold Shoulder design comes in many different styles. Jumpers, t-shirts, dresses and shirts. All different but all with that one feature in common. Now, I’d never actually considered getting my own. But when Blue Vanilla offered me a range of items to choose from their online store, I couldn’t quite resist this pretty pink jumper.
The reason for choosing this over other items on their site was purely because 1. I need more colour in my wardrobe and pink is the choice for Spring and 2. Because I wanted to mix my style up. For too long I have been wearing a t-shirt, jeans/leggings or a basic dress.
The frills gives this jumper character, drawing more attention to the Cold Shoulder and elevating a casual look into something slightly less informal.
PUT IT TOGETHER AND WHAT HAVE YOU GOT?
Just like Cinderella, it takes more than just one thing to make a presence an outfit complete. For me, styling a Cold Shoulder top like this requires little effort with a few items to finish the look.
A pair of jeans keeps the casual feel but the frills of this jumper create a feminine touch. Accessorised with a pastel block tote bag and floral boots adds just the right amount of detail to the outfit without going OTT. A pair of studs and sunglasses immediately spruces up the look removing any doubts of being “basic”.
I absolutely love this jumper and I am definitely sold on trying more of this design as it is so easy to dress around with some simple items. There’s no need to try to hard as the design does all the hard work for you.
