Positivity is an outlook of life which means you’ve decided to be happier. Having a positive attitude and outlook will improve the way you look at things and view different situations. This is the attitude that will help you move through anger, sadness, and sorrow.
KNOW THAT LIFE ISN’T PERFECT
Before you can work on improving your outlook you need to remember that life isn’t perfect. Positivity isn’t about being delusional and ignoring everything that is going on in the world. It’s about spreading optimism and knowing that:
GET OUT MORE
Staying in the house all day or going to work then home is not healthy. It can make you feel trapped physically and mentally. So why not go for a walk or a jog, meet up with friends or family or even just go out for a coffee with a nice book after work to chill out a bit?
I use this a tip for everything but exercising and eating healthy really do help in making you feel better about yourself. Not only will you start feeling good physically the body also releases endorphins making you feel good naturally. Not only that but morning workouts make you more proactive throughout the day as opposed to when you’re tired in the evenings!
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH POSITIVITY
This doesn’t have to be just positive people. Listening to happy songs, watching heart-warming films, putting up inspirational pictures or even just positive quotes can make you feel great about everything. Even talking about positive things and mentally blocking out the bad will become more and more natural as time goes on. If you find yourself thinking about something negative, pinch yourself.
REMOVE THE NEGATIVITY
If you have bad “friends”, in an unhappy relationship or hate your job, you need to change it. You can either change the problem by discussing how you feel or if you feel certain that these are not things you want in your life, you have to disregard them and be strong about it. A weight will be lifted. Take action!
TAKE A SOCIAL MEDIA HIATUS
Every now and again remove social media from your life for a week or so. It will make you focus on what is around you, what you enjoy outside of the world of Facebook and Twitter and prevent any negativity streaming into your positive way of life. it may also be good to remove those bad apples who are constantly negative on your feed.
HAVE A POSITIVE DREAM
Write a bucket list and think about your ideal lifestyle. Then strive to do it. I’ve created a bucket list idea sheet in the Freebies area. Take a look and see if there is anything you’d love to do! Work your way through your list and adding to it over time.
IT ISN’T THE END OF THE WORLD
Unless someone is going to REALLY suffer, don’t worry. Almost any problem can be fixed and mistakes can be learned from. I know it’s so so so easy for me to say but there are ways to cope with the anxious feelings you’re experiencing.
GET A HOBBY
Find something you’re interested in. Try cake decorating classes or Zumba lessons, start to draw or create a Tumblr. Anything that will make you happy in your bubble is worth doing and almost everything is worth trying!
Ok, I admit this isn’t something I have tried. But I guess you can create your own sort of feng shui! Have a decluttering session, redecorate, buy candles, flowers and paintings and make your space a happy one. Is your desk a mess? Spend a quiet afternoon tidying it up, sort through paperwork and get yourself some cute new stationery (retail therapy and your boss will appreciate you bringing in your own supplies). Why not add an inspirational calendar to your work area? Do anything you can to make yourself comfortable in your space.
DO A GOOD DEED A DAY
Dropping coins into a charity tin at the shops, buying a friend a coffee or just helping someone can do wonders to your mood. You’ll feel great knowing you’ve helped someone or at least made them smile!
BE CONTENT WITH YOURSELF AS A PERSON
Remember you are your own person. It is possible to achieve anything you want to. You are unique with your own talents and you should be happy with everything you are. You can accomplish your dreams. Without getting too personal (I well share my back story later) I can briefly tell you that with positive thinking I have been able to become a happy person.
HAVE SOME TIME TO YOURSELF
You deserve to take some time out to do what you love. It’s perfectly fine to want some time alone to unwind and enjoy the day. It’s time to be kinder to yourself and allow yourself some headspace.
If you have any tips on keeping positive, let me know! I would love to know what do.
